Walter is a two-year-old pointer mix (about 40 pounds) in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He is a sweet, gentle boy who is timid at first with new people, but he warms up with calm, patient introductions. Once he feels safe, he settles nicely at home and enjoys being near his people.
Walter is good with other dogs and fine with cats. He is neutered, and he is up to date on vaccines.
Walter can feel overwhelmed in noisy public places and around loud, unpredictable young children. When he’s nervous, he may bark and try to bolt, so he needs a guardian who will go slowly, use secure door and leash habits, and help him build confidence over time.
Why he’s being rehomed (simple and honest)
Our household recently welcomed a new baby, and with the changes at home, I’m looking for a loving home who can give Walter the calm, consistent attention, structure, and time he needs.
Home who would be compatible with Walter
A calmer household, adults or older kids who can follow guidance
Someone who will do slow introductions and let Walter approach at his own pace
A guardian who will keep early outings low-key (noisy public places can be too much for him)
A home who can commit to escape-prevention habits (secure doors, gates, and a harness)
Meet-and-greet plan (optional, but builds adopter confidence)
Walter does best meeting new people in a quiet area.
Once he warms up, he is affectionate, playful, cuddly.
He knows basic commands and is crate trained. He walks well on a front latching harness and leash.
