Does your pet have any history of health issues or medical conditions that potential adopters should be aware of?: Yes. He currently has a clean bill of health and folks are welcome to chat with my vet or see his medical records. When I found him on the street he was starving and needed immediate medical care. He was not neutered when I found him and one of his testicles had not dropped (he was 2 years old already). Also, four of his teeth (all four molars) were badly infected. My vet performed surgery to remove all four teeth and neutered him including removing the hidden testicle (this can cause issues later in life if it isn't removed). It is clear that at some point in his life he survived a serious accident--his x-ray showed that his sternum is broken and re-healed (fused). His gate (hind legs, particularly the right) is very slightly irregular. My vet thinks that to sustain that kind of injury, he may have been hit by a car, fallen from a very high height, or been kicked in the chest. The accident caused an injury to his tongue on one side, where it is torn and rehealed. During the surgery, my vet also cleaned up the tongue injury so he would be more comfortable. In all cases, you would now never know he had any injuries (except his very slightly irregular gate). My vet does not think there are any residual nerve damage from the accident, but because he does have trouble with balance and jumping he is not a candidate to ever be an outdoor cat again.

What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?: They really need to be experienced cat owners and they need to be the type of pet family that actively engages with their pets, not just having them around to be cute. Cosmo is the type of cat that will be your partner. He is a totally present and engaged cat, and one of the smartest cats I've met. It would be ideal if they are knowledgable about behavior training and are not opposed to working with a trainer. So, to that end, it is important to me to know what their monthly budget is for cat care, not just for healthy food but for enrichment and training. Cosmo trains easily, he is incredibly intelligent and needs direct engagement with his family.
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?: I believe that with proper time and training he could be adaptable to living with other cats--he seems to want to be friends with my girls but he was never socialized and as an un-neutered male (until 9 months ago) he just doesn't know how to play with them without including aggression. I think he just gets over stimulated, and this is what my trainer also says. (folks are welcome to also chat with my trainer). Even with me giving him affection, he shows some love aggression and unsocialized interaction. But he is a sweet, genuinely loving animal, with a big heart and a lot of ability to learn and grow--in the 9 months he has been with me he is very bonded to me so I know he can grow bonds and learn love. He just needs someone who is loving, patient, and willing to give him the time he needs to grown into his best self. Remember: he is just learning what safe bonding is, what food security is, what indoor living is.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Incompatible with Other Pets
Details about rehoming reason (if needed): I've been working with a trainer for 4 months to try to integrate Cosmo with my two girls, Skye and Runa. Skye and Runa are a bonded pair and were kittens when I rescued Cosmo. At first Cosmo was living in my studio but then I decided to try to integrate them. For all our slow and steady efforts, and genuine good progress at times, where Cosmo seemed like he really wanted to be their friend and his body language was indicating he was not a threat to them, when we tried gateless meetups his behavior shifted immediately to aggression. I am heartbroken, because he is such a great cat, but I just don't think it will work for the three of them to cohabitate, and my girls are my first commitment.
