Meet Daphne – The Sweetest Little Survivor!
Daphne is a happy, loving 11-month-old mixed-breed puppy with the biggest heart and an inspiring story. She was rescued by Promise 4 Paws after being hit by a car but thanks to amazing veterinary care and a whole lot of love, she is making a beautiful recovery following surgery on her hip and knee.
This brave girl is learning to walk all over again and gets stronger every day in her foster home. Despite everything she’s been through, Daphne’s spirit is pure sunshine! She’s playful, silly and full of puppy joy. Tug-of-war is her favorite game and she absolutely adores romping around with her foster dog siblings. She does great with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a canine companion to play with and keep her company. Daphne is also wonderful with children—playful, loving, and gentle. Her behavior around cats and other animals is currently unknown.
Daphne is smart and eager to please. She’s already learning commands quickly and just needs a family willing to continue her training and help her polish up those puppy manners. Like any young pup, she still has a few mischievous habits (watch your shoes!), but her sweet personality more than makes up for it.
Most of all, Daphne is a cuddle bug who just wants to be close to her people. She will thrive in a patient, loving home committed to her continued recovery and long-term care especially as she may experience some arthritis as she gets older.
If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will love you with her whole heart, Daphne is ready to meet you. She’s been given a second chance at life, now she just needs a forever family to share it with.
Could that be you?

She can get overwhelmed and nervous in public places where there's a lot of noise, people and cars. She needs patience and a little coaxing to push her out of her comfort zone sometimes.
Is there a daily routine that works well for your dog (feeding, walking, sleep)?:
She eats in the morning around 7am and then we spend time in the yard. She likes sniffing around and then we play for a little bit before I start work. We go on 1 walk day right now which she loves. I'm working on getting her up to two walks per day once her knee has completely healed. She eats again around 4pm or 5pm and then she usually goes to bed around 9 or 10pm.

Does your pet have any history of health issues or medical conditions that potential adopters should be aware of?:
She was hit by a car when she was around 8 months old. She was brought to the Coachella Valley Animal Shelter by animal control. She had a broken knee, broken hip and a hernia. Promise 4 Paws did a rescue pull for her and we are fostering her now. She had surgery for her knee, hip and hernia. The surgeries went well and she is recovering nicely. She is still slightly limping on her knee and there is potential she could develop arthritis in her life. It's important that she never gets overweight and it would be helpful for her to receive additional vitamins that care for her joints.
Has your dog ever shown any challenging behaviors, such as biting a person or another pet? If so, please share some context.:
No but she can sometimes get a little possessive over her toys, I've noticed. When I tell her 'No' or to stop, she listens immediately.

What's the most endearing thing about your dog?:
Her most endearing quality is her sweetness. She is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met. She is also really silly and loves to play.
What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?:
I want to find a family who will appreciate everything she's been through in her life and who will love her unconditionally. I want her family to give her the training, patience and care that she needs. I hope for her family to take great care of her health and to be proactive on giving her a healthy diet and routine vet check ups. I hope that her family will let her sleep in the bed with them because she loves waking up next to me and gets so happy for morning cuddles. I hope her family plays with her a lot and gives her opportunities to keep her stimulated and engaged in life. And it would be great for Daphne to have another dog sibling that she can play with as well.
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?:
She loves to dig in the yard and she likes to steal our socks and shoes. She hides them and places them in one spot somewhere in the house and has chewed the socks from time to time. She will need to be trained still not to chew on things besides her toys. She is still a puppy in those regards.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?:
Foster Pet
Details about rehoming reason (if needed):
We already have our own dogs and cannot foster fail this time. If we didn't have our own pets though, we would be keeping her because she's so amazing.
