Dogo Argentino – Experienced Home Only
Lyra is a 4.5-year-old female Dogo Argentino (turning 5 this summer) seeking a breed-experienced, adult-only home where she can thrive as the only female dog — ideally the only dog.
She has been with me since 4 months old and is fully trained, housebroken, crate trained, and well-mannered in public. She walks beautifully on leash, enjoys hiking (including multi-day trips), and presents as calm and steady in new environments. She is confident, observant, and very loyal once she settles in.
Lyra does best in a structured environment with clear leadership. She is intelligent, strong-willed (true to her breed), and responds well to confident handlers familiar with guardian or working breeds.
Important Placement Notes:
No female dogs
No small dogs
No children
Experienced Dogo or guardian breed home only
Secure fencing required
Must be the only pet or carefully matched with a stable, large male (case-by-case)
In our multi-dog household dynamic, increasing tension between the females has led me to make the difficult but responsible decision to place her in a more suitable environment. This is not a decision made lightly.
Outside of this specific household dynamic, Lyra is affectionate, sweet, and enjoys being part of daily life. She loves outdoor adventures and would do best with someone active who understands the mental and physical needs of this breed.
I am committed to finding her the very best placement and will require:
Veterinary references
Home check
Return-to-me clause
Thorough screening process
She is up to date on vaccines and in good health.
If you are experienced with Dogos or similar guardian breeds and are looking for a loyal, steady companion, please reach out with details about your home, experience, and lifestyle.
