Josey

Josey is a gorgeous dog with a great personality. He is very loyal, loving, and aims to please his people. We are seeking someone who knows how to keep a Shepherd mix (See one of the pictures for his DNA results) active and healthy. Right now he is a house dog, and as much as I hate to admit it, we are not the right family for a dog this smart and energetic. Ideally he would be, in the most humane and loving sense possible, put to work. He needs tasks and to give that incredible brain of his workout, as well as physically challenging him. On a personal note, he loves to cuddle and be in the presence of his people. He is great with strangers and kids. We have a cat and they get along as well as with our other dog.

What's the most endearing thing about your dog?: He is incredibly loving and loyal
What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?: We do not have the time or energy for a dog of this intelligence. He needs to go to someone who has the ability to keep him active and focused. He is a house dog now, but, while loving, he is not happy. He needs either space, someone more capable than we are, or ideally both
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?: He is amazing and this is heartbreaking, but he is not happy being stuck in a house alone most of the day. He is gorgeous and loving and incredibly intelligent. He needs some one to give him tasks and duties and get him much more exerciese than we do. Fantastic with kids and strangers, thoug he can be vocal (barking not growling)
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Housing is Inadequate for Pet
