Miko

Miko is a very pretty girl who loves a quiet home with owners that have time to cuddle while watching movies or reading. She is affectionate when in one-on-one settings with her owners, but is often shy around newcomers and takes a while to warm up to new people. Miko has a lot of evergy when she is awake but is not destructive to the home and stays off of counters. Loves to hang out on heating vents in the winter and near fireplaces, and will make biscuits whenever she has a chance to cuddle on a fuzzy blanket. She enjoys games with chasing a string or a cat nip filled mouse. Dislikes any toys that make noises. Typically lounges when her owners are at work, some interaction in the evenings. Does like to go outside, we often supervise her time outside but very good about listening for when to come in especially when you shake treats. Generally does not sprint for the door whenever it is open. Miko would be best suited to a quiet home where she is the main focus of attention. She has not been around other animals much, so unsure if she would tolerate more cats or dogs (but she has been a single cat in our home for her whole life). She has had difficulty adjusting to our son (who is 2 years old) since she gets very stressed with changes, would probably be best with no kids or older children. She is house trained with litter box, but during times of stress (moving, adding children to the home) she often will change her toileting behavior to including pooping outside of the literbox in our basement as well as occasional urinating outside of the box. At the guidance of our vet we switched to limited ingredient diet, trialed constipation meds, and put out additional litter boxes where she uses more frequently outside of her normal litter box area with cat attract litter and this worked briefly but she often reverts to toileting outside of the box when stressed (and is more stressed now with our mobile toddler which is the main reason we are rehoming her). She is spayed, vaccinations last updated end of 2024, microchipped, front paws declawed. We do use limited ingredient foods at the recommendation of our vet to decrease her vomiting and to attempt to help with constipation, noticed improvement in vomiting with the change in food about 3 years ago. May be able to reintroduce "normal food" but have not tried.

No medical conditions, had vet do blood work and other tests end of 2024 when her toileting behavior worsened and nothing abnormal was found. Can obtain records on request. She does get aggravated easily with too much aggressive petting or attention--tolerates some affection but on her own terms and is mostly content with laying near her owners or observing. Overall, has been a good cat for us, but she seemed a lot happier and thrived more when we had a quieter home. With continuing to add to our family we just want to allow her a better option to be happier and more comfortable again without the stress of young children.
