Blu- a loving, goofy boy looking for his forever home
Blu is a loving, affectionate, goofy boy who has been an incredibly special part of my family. He has such a big personality and an even bigger heart. He loves his people deeply and is happiest when he gets to be included in whatever is going on.
Blu is playful, silly, curious, and incredibly affectionate. He loves attention and has a wonderful way of making you laugh with his goofy personality. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing, going for car rides, and being part of the everyday routine.
Blu is the kind of dog who really becomes your companion. He loves being near his people and has so much love to give. He deserves a family who will give him the same love, patience, attention, and loyalty that he gives to them.
This is an incredibly difficult decision for me. I am rehoming Blu because of circumstances outside of my control, not because I no longer love or want him. He is deeply loved and will always be a part of my heart. My biggest priority is finding him a safe, loving, permanent home where he can continue to be the happy, goofy dog that he is.

Blu was adopted from Strong Paws Rescue, and he became a part of my family after I chose to give him a loving home. I do not know all of the details of his life before he came to me, but I have loved and cared for him ever since.

Blu does well being left alone for reasonable periods of time. He is accustomed to being home without his person and does not need constant attention to be comfortable.
Are there any specific triggers that cause your dog anxiety or stress?:
Blu can become overly excited when he sees something he wants, particularly if another dog has a toy, bone, or other high-value item. He can also become very excited during play. A structured environment with clear boundaries and management around high-value resources would be beneficial for him.
Is there a daily routine that works well for your dog (feeding, walking, sleep)?:
His routine currently consists of waking up with me at around 6am, he goes downstairs and eats breakfast, goes potty outside, and hangs out on the couch or on the bed until I get home from work around 4:30pm. He eats dinner and then goes back outside to go potty. He sleeps in bed with me every night but will sometimes opt for the bed in the guest room.

When Blu came home with me in 2024 he was only 35 pounds and emaciated. The rescue told me he had been found as a stray with a broken femur, which he underwent surgery for and has not shown symptoms or signs of pain/discomfort since he’s lived with me.

He currently takes Cosequin as a preventative.
Has your dog ever shown any challenging behaviors, such as biting a person or another pet? If so, please share some context.:
Blu has NEVER EVER bitten or shown aggression toward a person. He has also never had a known serious fight with another dog prior to September 2026. On September 26, 2026, Blu was involved in a fight with another dog while multiple dogs were in the living room chewing bones. Blu has a tendency to try to take toys, bones, or other items from the other dogs, and I believe this may have contributed to the incident. I am not certain exactly what initiated the fight, but I believe Blu may have initiated the interaction. After the dogs were separated, Blu was able to settle down, and neither dog sustained injuries. Because this was his first known incident of this kind, I want to be transparent about it so that his future family can make an informed decision and provide the appropriate management and training.

Blu has a short coat and has relatively minimal grooming needs. Regular baths, nail trims, and occasional brushing are generally sufficient.

Blu’s biggest quality is how much he loves his people. He is incredibly affectionate and wants to be part of everything. He has such a goofy personality and can make you laugh without even trying. He has a way of looking at you that makes it very obvious how much he loves and trusts you. He is a big sweetheart with a huge personality, and anyone who gets to know him quickly realizes how special he is.
What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?:
My biggest priority is finding Blu a safe, loving, stable, and permanent home. I want an adopter who understands that he is not a perfect dog and who is willing to be patient with him, continue his training, and provide clear boundaries and structure. Because of his recent incident with another dog involving high-value resources, I would want his new family to understand resource management and be committed to preventing situations that could put him or another animal at risk. I would also strongly prefer an adopter who is comfortable working with a trainer or behavior professional if needed. Most importantly, I want someone who will see Blu for the loving, goofy, wonderful dog that he is and make him a true member of their family—not someone looking for a disposable or temporary pet.

I am rehoming Blu because of my housing situation and my HOA’s strict one-dog-per-unit policy. I currently have two dogs, and despite both dogs being documented emotional support animals, my HOA is not allowing me to keep both dogs in my unit. This is not a decision I am making because I no longer want Blu or because he is unwanted. He is deeply loved and has been an important part of my family. I have tried to find ways to make the situation work, but I have reached the point where I need to find him a safe and loving home rather than put him in an unstable housing situation. This has been absolutely heartbreaking for me, and I want to make sure that if Blu has to leave my family, he goes to someone who will love him, understand him, and keep him for the rest of his life.
