Little Boy

Dear Reader,

It is with much sadness and grief that I am looking to rehome my cat. He is a gentle cat who really loves to socialize, he requires a lot of attentiveness in order to be socially satisfied and a good routine in which he can be directly included. He enjoys firm petting, gentle smacking, being tussled with and will politely tell you when it is too much by holding or pushing a hand away. Extremely loving animal and wonderful companion, very vocal, a huge sweet baby. I believe that he could be very easily supported by the right home and family.

Many areas of his needs are figured out especially around his food and medical support needs. He also has several favorite toys and kinds of resting areas that I would be happy to share and that are also illustrated in the attached pictures. I have videos and more pictures of him I can share as well.

He has some issues around his box, he requires at least 2 large boxes, and prefers softer litters. A large covered box is needed because he only pees in a spraying position. If his box is soiled beyond his comfort he will start to pee on the wall next to it. This is a behavior I have never managed to successfully figure out and have never been in a space which accommodates it well. A routine has been developed around his boxes to help him feel like he has clean accommodations. This routine reduced his spraying for several months, however he returned to it once his recent tooth problems started causing him pain and once he realized how little access he had regularly to the rest of the home. In the right environment, I think his boxes being cleaned on a regular daily schedule would be enough to stop his spraying.

He is generally good at self grooming and takes to correction well, noticing where you groom him more and following suit. He loves being brushed and brushing him is a collaborative effort as he will want to push himself into it. A wire brush left on the ground is something he will use to groom himself as well. I additionally keep wipes around to help him get cleaned up if he is having trouble.

He has been in a variety of circumstances with other pets and never does well enough with them on a reasonable time scale. While having a friend might help his social needs, his difficulty in acclimating in a timely way makes this near impossible as an option. He really needs to be an only cat.

His ideal home is somewhere he can get frequent or even constant socialization of various kinds, perhaps with a retiree or a house with people who have opposing schedules. He needs a home where some of his issues, especially around bathroom habits won’t cause distress or too much damage to personal property. He needs someone with the financial means to supply his food and litter needs as well as his vet bills. But most importantly he needs someone who will love him and who really is ready to meet him where he is at. While I love him dearly I can no longer meet him where he needs me to and I am really hoping to find that for him.
