Lou

Lou is a wonderful soon-to-be 5-year-old mixed breed that was adopted when he was 8 weeks old. He's a true sweetheart who loves getting pets, taking naps, snuggling, and playing. Lou is housebroken and extremely well-behaved. Lou is fantastic in the car and can go for long periods alone at home. Lou is very well-mannered and loving. Lou can have anxiety around young children and would do best in a home with older or no children. If you are looking for a loving and loyal companion, Lou is your dog!

What commands does your dog know?: Sit, stay, come, down
Has your dog ever displayed any behavioral issues, such as biting another person or pet? If so, can you please provide details on what happened?: Lou can be anxious around young (loud/erratic/unpredictable) children. In June, Lou was on the couch barking at a delivery being dropped off on our porch. Our 2 year old daughter got on the couch and in his face and he bit her on the cheek. She did not need stitches but it broke the skin. Trainers have confirmed this was displaced aggression (targeted at the delivery person, not the child. ) This is the only instance of a bite.
How does your dog react to being left alone for short periods?: Very well
Are there any specific triggers that cause your dog anxiety or stress?: Young children, the vet
Is there a particular routine that works best for your dog in terms of feeding, walking, and sleep?: Lou is used to being fed in the morning and at night and receiving one walk (about 20 min) a day. He does well being on his own but enjoys being around people and getting pet and loved.

What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?: Lou would do best in a home with older or no children. Lou has lived with a cat before and he did well but it may be situational depending on the animal. Similarly with dogs, he gets along great with some and not as well with others.
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?: We consider Lou our first child and it has been heartbreaking for us to rehome him. Lou brought us so much joy and we know he will do the same for his next family. Please give him the loving home he knows and deserves.
