Penny

Penny is a loving red/brown Doberman/GSD + more mix. We like to say she is the prettiest mutt we’ve ever seen. She is sweet and intuitive, sensitive and smart and will know if you are feeling sad and will respond by looking into your eyes and putting her paw on your chest. She’s graceful and athletic despite missing a toe and having a bit of arthritis. She’s wiggly and cuddly and very devoted to her people.

Her sensitivities extend to her tummy and her skin so her new person or family will have to take care to manage her diet and provide her with allergy controlling meds. Her sensitivity includes being very aware of who she knows and who is stranger. She’ll need careful introductions to new people. Some she will consider her own and love, and some will cause her to be wary. Penny gets VERY excited on walks and is reactive toward other dogs while on leash. We have managed that by turning around and keeping our distance. Despite reactivity on leash, once carefully introduced, she has loved being around other dogs of our friends and family. We suspect much of her anxiety might be helped with the right dog companion.

We’ve spent 6 years caring and loving Penny and we are looking for someone to take on care and love her throughout the next phase of her life.

The person that would be right for Penny would need to meet the following criteria:

Knowledge and experience of challenging breeds such as Dobermans and GSDs.

A living and working situation that allows for near constant companionship with Penny.

The means to meet ongoing management of veterinary and health needs including allergies, possible arthritis and suspected digestive sensitivities.

Penny will take all the love and devotion you can give and give it right back to you, looking right into your soul with her golden eyes.
